Educational Psychologist

B.Psych (UP), PGCE (Unisa), M.Ed & PhD Educational Psychology (UP)

I am registered with the HPCSA as an Educational Psychologist and have been in private practice since 2007. I have also worked on a consultant basis at St Albans College in Pretoria for a period of eight years.

Prior to opening my private practice, I worked in Special Needs Education in the UK in 2004, after which I was involved as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of Pretoria (2006) and lectured educators for the Department of Distance Education. My doctoral studies were focused on the importance of emotional intelligence and the development of emotional intelligence in our youth.

I have also presented parent guidance talks and workshops on the topic of emotional intelligence, as well as on the challenges of being a parent in the 21st century. In our practice I focus on helping clients to deal more effectively with any emotional and behavioural challenges they may be facing, and on identifying and addressing various barriers to learning. I also offer relevant guidance to parents. I would further describe my approach to psychology as engaging, cooperative and positive.

I especially enjoy connecting with children and teens on their level and am dedicated to helping them to be comfortable and content with who they are, and to finding ways to help them cope with the demands they are faced with on a daily basis.
